On August 12, 2016, all Lync/Skype for Business users will be moved to the cloud. After August 12, if you are on a Mac operating system, you must use the Lync/Skype for Business service, and you must be running Lync 2011 version 14.1.1 or higher.

Please review the version you are running and install the update if needed with the directions below. Open ‘Spotlight’ by pressing the ‘CMD’ and ‘SPACEBAR’ keys at the same time. Type ‘Lync’ in the search box (Figure 1, A).

Click on the ‘Microsoft Lync’ application to open (Figure 1, B). If you do not see the ‘Microsoft Lync’ application it is not installed.

Please proceed to step number seven to install Microsoft Lync. Once Lync is opened and the window is selected please navigate to the menu bar at the top of your screen and select ‘Lync’. (Figure 2, A). Select ‘About Lync’ the first item in the drop down menu.

If your version is below 14.1.1 you will need to upgrade your Microsoft Lync client using the Self-Service portal. Please follow steps #x-x to upgrade your Lync. Close Microsoft Lync before you begin the upgrade (Figure 4, A). Make sure your Lync window is selected, then go to the top menu bar and select ‘Lync’, scroll down the drop down menu and select ‘Quit Lync”.

Open ‘Spotlight’ by pressing the ‘CMD’ and ‘SPACEBAR’ keys at the same time. Type ‘Self Service’ in the search box (Figure 5, A). Click on the ‘Self Service’ application to open (Figure 5, B).

Click ‘Microsoft’ under the Categories on the right hand side of the window (Figure 6, A). Click install under ‘MicrosoftLync14.3.3’ (Figure 7, A). The installation will automatically begin after the download completes. Please do not open Microsoft Lync until the installation is complete.
